Etching
Why can't travertine be pressure cleaned?
Travertine and sandstone are soft. A high-pressure jet does not clean the surface, it erodes it, leaving fine wand marks, a pitted texture and a patchy finish where the tool lingered. That is not dirt you are looking at afterwards. It is missing stone.
Freshly laid concrete has the same problem for a different reason. Until it has cured, the surface paste is soft enough that pressure lifts it off and exposes the aggregate in blotches. Once that happens, the only real fix is resurfacing.
Neither is reversible, which is why we treat stone as its own service rather than another driveway.
